To celebrate the spring season, Beverly Walker and Ryan Haupt planned a field trip out to the Calvert Cliffs area to learn about the geological history of the Chesapeake Bay at the Calvert Marine Museum, along with an opportunity to get out on the beach and do some fossil and shark teeth hunting at Flag Ponds Nature Park. At the museum we saw a Megalodon model, while Ryan and Beverly taught us about the types of shark teeth we would see on the beach. At the beach, our group found a sweet spot for fossil collecting, where we found sharks teeth, ray/skate plates, croc armor, turtle shell, and even a megalodon vertebrae!
